This week, Arizona elected officials, community activists, and voters had a single message for their peers in the Grand Canyon state: be a “First Week Voter.”

Biden for President’s new “First Week Voter” initiative is encouraging everyone to get ready to cast their ballots, either by mail or in-person, as soon as early voting begins. Arizona is heading into the final weekend before two key voting dates:

  • The last day to register to vote is Monday, October 5.
  • Early voting locations open and ballots begin being mailed out on Wednesday, October 7.

The campaign will continue to encourage Arizonans, their friends and their family to make their plan to vote early by visiting IWillVote.com or VoyAVotar.com.

“[This election] is about who you love, and what your beliefs are, and the future of the country. It’s a message of allowing us as Americans to express our differences but through votes, not through words or through social media,” said Oscar De las salas. “Because of our convictions, we decided that this is the candidate that will represent us in the bigger frame in the country.”

“I’m going to vote for Biden-Harris this year because we really need to change the direction of this country. We need to get back to cooperation. We need to change where we are going for the youth of this country if nothing else. When my kids were young I took them to the polls, and since they’ve been out of the house I vote by mail. And I vote early every year, just for the peace of mind. I can check and make sure that my ballot has been received, and I’ll do it this year as well,” said Tracy Zipay.

“I am voting for Biden and Harris this time around because this is an important election. I’ve followed Biden’s career since the very beginning, and I’m excited to vote for the Biden-Harris ticket. I know that they will change the trajectory of this country, and I can’t wait for that to happen,” said Alice Scott.

The campaign also hosted a press call and invited community leaders and supporters from all walks of life to talk about why they’re excited to be “first week voters” starting October 7.

Congressman Stanton: “I’m going to be a first-day voter. As soon as I get that ballot, I’m going to be filling it out that night with my wife, and I will be delivering it to the mailbox the very next day. And again, I’m encouraging everyone to do the same. This is the most consequential election that we will ever have in our lifetimes, the stakes could not be higher, and we’re counting on each and every one of you to be a leader.”

Congressman Ruben Gallego: “Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are the only ones who have the plans we need to protect our lives and livelihoods, and their path to victory in Arizona runs straight through the Latino community. We need to make sure that all of our friends and family are ready to be ‘First Week Voters’ so that as soon as ballots drop and polls open next week, we can do our part to send Joe and Kamala to the White House.”

Former State Senator Amanda Aguirre: “If Latino voters are ‘First Week Voters,’ there’s no stopping Joe Biden and Kamala Harris from winning this election and restoring the soul of our nation.”

Frank Cota: “It’s so important to elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris this election. I have faith in Joe Biden, in his honesty and integrity. He understands what veterans need, and that will make me a first-week voter — and it should make everybody a first-week voter.”

Camila Quiñones: “This is actually my first time voting for a president in the United States. I moved here to the United States with my mom when I was ten years old. I’m excited that [Joe and Kamala] represent the American Dream that my mom and I came here for. I became a citizen in 2017, and because of that, I don’t take this responsibility of voting lightly. I’ve done my research, and up and down every issue, I know that Joe and Kamala will do right by the people of the United States…It’s such a marvelous thing to get to vote…[so] let your voice be heard, because a lot of people don’t have that voice.”

Lydia Avila: “People like me who live with a preexisting condition, who need access to reliable and affordable health care coverage, we need to elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris because they are going to have our backs. It’s so important to me that we get everyone in our communities to be ‘First Week Voters’ and have them cast their ballots soon as they can, because there are lives hanging in the balance.”

The deadline to register to vote in Arizona is October 5, and the last day to request a mail-in ballot is October 23. Early voting begins in the state October 7. Make a safe and secure plan to vote by visiting IWillVote.com or VoyAvotar.com.
